One of my favorite John Lennon songs is up on iTunes for free this week.
Its to celebrate his 70th birthday
thanks Yoko for getting this artwork remaster and releasing it to all his fans.
Here is the video for the song too:

I love Yelle. Here is a sick ass teaser of her upcoming single "La Musique". It's gonna get stuck in your head and you're gonna love it.
(download by clicking on the title above the player)
okay, this shit has been blowing up at the parties at my school. i don't know if that is any indication of its popularity in America or whatever, but its deff a good sign. i love when non-english music can cross over. so rare
Annndddd we're back! I am here at my lovely apartment where I can see the skyline of downtown LA (don't hate). It's back to school time! And what better way to start off a great year than with a Lady Toker playlist?? I can't think of anything better... except maybe a blunt to compliment it...hehe.
Well anyways, this monthly mix is pretty much the soundtrack to my life for this month/ going back to school sooo enjoy!
I didnt post this when it premiered last night cause I thought there was something wrong with MTV for only playing like a minute of the video. Butttt thats just how long it is! wtf? but still brilliant
Okay, this is pretty illlllll. Riot !n Paris (who I will have to do an Artist of the Week about) put out this video that makes me think duh! why hasnt anyone thought of this before?? What an awesome idea to do a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' type video, you know like the mystery books when you were a kid?! Of course, this was only made possible by youtube enabling links to be put in their videos, but this is definitely something to check out.
Ok so this month's mix is kinda all over the place! Basically it can be summed up as some feel good songs to get you movin in this last summer month. Do I hear sophomore year approaching?? AHH
Not gonna lie I used to REALLY dislike this guy. Guess I was a hater, cause Drake goes hard. Unlike most rappers in the game, he's not all about the bling and the women. He talks about real shit. I can respect that. andddd his rhymes are pretty ill. Anyways, this is one of my favorite songs by him, and it was produced by Kanye!
(btw, lol at that pic right?)
Speaking of Kanye, here is a remix of 'Get Em High' from RATATAT. Not only are they great because they are named after a pokemon, but they make this eh (in my opinion) track of Kanye's into a chill bob-ya-head song. It's off of RATATAT's mixtape from 2004, Ratatat Remixes Vol 1.
Here's another remix, but this time coming from Vodka & Milk. They take a classic and bring it to the club. Faster pace and an electro twist makes this a party jam.
Download it HERE/ check out there other stuff, too it's pretty tight.
This was released on a new Young Money mixtape and is most likely a song that will be on Man on The Moon II. Can't wait to hear the rest!
Download the above mentioned mixtape/this song HERE.
(btw, mixtape has 14 WORLD PREMIERE songs, like Cudi's)
Here's a new dude on the scene, Rob Roy. There's not much out there on the interwebs about him, other than he has a mixtape and a DOPE ASSS MUSIC VIDEO. (One of my favorites of all time, seriously)
Download his mixtape that includes this song HERE.
Kanye West took a trip over to Facebook headquarters and previewed some of his latest work. Lyrics that are both REAL and FUNNY? Now that's the Kanye we know, love, and missed!!
DOMINIQUE YOUNG UNIQUEis a 19 year old Florida native rapper. She is most commonly compared to artists like M.I.A, Santigold, Rye Rye, and Kid Sister. But I have to think, is that because they are all minority women who incorporate electro into their hip hop tinged flows, or because that is the group she fits in with the quickest? To me, I would say sounds more like she's been influenced by Lil' Kim, Trina, and Nikki Minaj, mostly because of her dirty, dirty lyrics.
Of course, you can't help but to notice all the similarities to the others (Rye Rye fo sho), too. Honestly though, her name doesn't have Unique in it for show. She can back that namesake up. The reason why I can get her shit out of my head is because she can hold her own on vocals against the AMAZING tracks produced by David Alexander, producer for Yo! Majesty. Alexander was introduced to DYU through Shunda K. of Yo! Majesty, and after some time Dominique signed to David Alexander's small British label, Art Jam. She has been working on tracks since she was 17, and has released a mixtape, Dominiation, and an EP Blaster, that came out in May.
Dominique started creating a stir on the music scene when she preformed at the SXSW festival in March. She was even featured in TheRolling Stones because of the event. Then blogs started spreading the word about DYU after her first music video for "Show My Ass" came out in April.
As for me, I came across this mash up by The Hood Internet a couple of days ago that caught my attention. I began researching Dominique Young Unique like crazy and knew that she was one to watch.
Chiddy Bangis a hip hop duo from Philadelphia, PA. Emcee Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege, and DJ/Producer Noah Beresin, a.k.a. Xaphoon Jones, met while attending Drexel University in Philly.
Their music sounds to me like rapping over an indie electro hip hop baby. My favorite kind of baby.
Chiddy Bang often samples underground favorites like Kate Nash, MGMT, RATATAT, Yelle, and Passion Pit, giving them the indie/electro feel I spoke of. Xaphoon then takes these samples and puts his spin on it, resulting in a track that really stands out from Chiddy Bang's hip hop peers. The duo has released two mixtapes, The Swelly Express, and Air Swell.
Below is Chiddy Bang's music videos for their first two singles, 'Kids' and 'Truth'. They recently released the video for their third single, 'Sooner or Later' where Chiddy filmed a recent trip to his parents hometown in Nigeria. View that one HERE.
Love this next one. The vocals by Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos is why I love this song.
Chiddy Bang has been gaining a lot of respect and attention in the blogosphere since late 2009/early 2010, but has just started reaching widespread popularity with the release of the 'Kids' music video. That same song even peaked on the top of US charts at number 8. Chiddy Bang was signed to EMI back in March, and is releasing their first album, Here We Go, August 24th, 2010.
For those of you who haven't listened to Manners from Passion Pit, shame on you!
But here is your chance to redeem yourself. Amazon MP3 has chosen this album as one of their 100 Albums for $5. Now, this is the deluxe version of Manners, so you get extra special songs like Passion Pit's cover of 'Dreams', by The Cranberries.
Here is another thing to add on to Drizzy's list of accomplishments this year: a plane in his namesake. This Virgin America plane jets between Drake's hometown of Toronto to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
I've gotta say, you know you've made it when bitches be namin' shit after you. Congrats!
Here is a mash-up of Lil' Wayne's 'Hustler Musik', and the theme song of The Office. I don't watch the show so that fact doesn't add or take away from the song at all for me.
I must say any remix by Diplo, or anything by Diplo is a safe bet to be something I will love. This song was made for the "Diplo Presents" Free Gucci" mixtape. I love the beat obviously, you can help but the love the "poet" that is Gucci himself. "Please pardon me, please pardon me, I'm sorry I'm so sparkely."
Suchhh a chill remix. Bird Peterson makes some good shit. I don't normally listen to Wale, but a lot of remixes of his songs have been catching my ear. This song is dedicated to the freaks.
I love Dubstep and Rusko is some of the kings of the genre. Pair them up with Kid Sister and you got a sick track. I feel like the original beat for this song was just begging to become a real boy, a real dubstepin' boy.
I know you hear this song on the radio ALL the time, but you ain't heard it like this before. Hypercrush is a band from LA that does remixes on the side and this one is pretty tight. I like listening to it when I work out.
Here is a beautiful cover of The Cranberries' song, 'Dreams' by Passion Pit.
It was released on the reissue of their album Manners.
Seriously, who doesn't love Passion Pit!
Here is a lengthy (15:47) music video that combines the two Plastic Beach music videos, 'Stylo' and 'On Melancholy Hill' into a story.
If you were wondering how the two ideas related and the poltline, this is the answer.
This is the first installment of a weekly undertaking featuring an up-and-coming artist/ band of hip hop and/ or electro spirit. Welcome.
First up is Die Antwoord.
Die Antwoord hails from South Africa and is part of the musical movement down there called Zef. The group's name means 'The Answer' in Africaans, while Zef is slang for basically 'next level shit'.
Now let me tell you, front man Ninja, his hype lady Yo-Landi, and beat master DJ Hi-Teck are all about that next level shit.
Their music can best be described as gangsta white trash rave.
Yea, that sums it up nicely.
I came across these guys in the new HARD promo cd. HARD is a series of raves around the US. check out the free download of the cd HERE.
You will get a taste of some other sweetness like Crystal Castles and Rusko.
Being a music video junkie, this jem made me fall in love with them even more.
Here's another video to let you get a taste of what Die Antwoord is all about:
Now, Die Antwoord went ridiculously viral in about April, but many doubted the credibility of the group. I won't go into detail about this because I think its bullshit, but you can read an article about the 'conspiracy' HERE. I think they are fucking sick, next level shit, and if they weren't the real deal would they have a recording contract with Interscope???
Their Album, '$O$', will be coming out 'fokkon soon' according to their website, but I'm pretty sure most of it has already leaked on the internet.
So lastly, I will leave you with my favorite song by Die Antwoord so far!
Hahaha, I've liked this vid for a while and wanted to share it with the folks that ain't know.
Love the fugly girls, its a nice touch. I am liking the shit that Eric Wareheim has directed.
I am looking forward to music videos off of the 'Lazerproof' mixtape if there are going to be any...
Alright, I need to post more shit for the stoners, and this is sure to please.
Visuals that make you say what?! and then you like it. thats what i aim for.
WOAH, this is comin' out of nowhere for me. I was creepin on Kanye West's new blog, and came across this video:
YO HE KILLS IT!!!! "Son of a king, so why would I ever bow down".
how old is he? whatever who cares this is some new hip hop generation shit.
I love Run's House, and Diggy was my fav person on the show but I never googled him til now.
check out his own blog here, and watch out for this dude for real.
Andre 3000 puts a new spin on a classic Beatles' song "All Together Now".
At first I thought it was annoying, but now its cute so it was time to post it!
btw, has anyone seen this on tv?
